Saturday here

Well, @ 7am this morning, I was surprised by a knock at the balcony door. There stands Rhea, then Adam and Oz!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They had driven, like Heather and Mark, all night to get here!!!!!!!
Oz slept 1 1/2 hr. the entire trip!!!!!!!!!!! Mom and Dad were wiped out, Oz was like the Ever-ready Bunny, going,& going,& going.....

Heather and Mark had to leave this am, and arrived home approx. 8hrs after they left here!!!!! Have no idea how they managed that, but am sure they are ready for a 'vacation' after their vacation! Lots of driving.

A,R, & Oz took a nap and then hit the beach. Oz was so excited! rain boots and hat and coat, but he was on the 'ditch' in the sand and smiling.

Lots of shells, horseshoe crabs (Adam and Rhea found), man of war everywhere!!!!!! No wind at all, cool air, warm sun. sure wish had been better weather for Heather and Mark, never know what mother nature has in mind!!!!!
More pic later...............

Hello from the "Cape"

Hello from the Cape". Doesn't that sound sophisticated? Or more like Hillbillys in Florida? Well it was another beautiful day again yesterday. I guess you may get tired of hearing that, Oh well. Mark made a new freind. His name is Randy, but everyone calls him "Catfish". Well Catfish works for the company that is restoring the beach here. They are currently working about a mile and a half up the beach from us. They have this large ship that is a dredge and it goes out about 5 miles off shore and sucks up white sand from the Gulf floor and then comes back to the beach and pumps it out onto the beach. Then equipment spreads it out. They work 24/7. They are so far from us that we hardly notice them. Anyway, now the story of Catfish. Ever since we have arrived we have seen this guy sitting in a chair about a half mile up the beach from us. He is there every day. There is also a dead sea turtle on the beach where he is sitting. It seems that his job is to guard this sea turtle until the state wildlife people can come and pick it up. And it also seems that the state is not in any big hurry, since the turtle has been there since the storm that Sunday when we arrived. Some job huh.

We went out to eat last night in Panama City Beach. It was a bit further than I remember. Unfortunetly, most of the establishments are closed in December. We rode around and found this realy nice place called Scampies. The parking lot was packed. So we knew this was a good place. They were have there employee Christmas party, they were closed that night. So we ended up at Bill's Seafood and Crabshack. A kinda bikers place. They had a small menu, but great food. Well I guess I have bored you enough today, so I will say goodbye and until next time. John

As We Begin Our Second Week

Well, yesterday was another beautiful day here at the cape. It was a bit chilly and windy, but a cloudless sky. We had a great time again walking alone the beach. Looking for shells, and unwinding. Not any people here. The most you may see at any time, one mile ether way on the beach will be 3 or 4 people. We enjoyed watching a few movies yesterday, and we played a couple of board games last night. At 11:00 p.m., Mark and I decided to do a little fishing at night. The moon was very bright so we could see a litle. Enough to bait our hooks and cast them out. We stayed out to almost 1:00 a.m. We caught 4 fish. I dare say that all four together would only weigh a pound, but never the less, we caught 4 fish. It was exciting to stand at the edge of the surf, and look up at the moon and stars and feel the tug of the fish as they struck our lines. We also saw quit a few shooting stars as well. There is no humisity and hayze down here so everything is so clear and sharp. We miss everyone and wish you all could be here to enjoy and share in with us this beautiful beach. Love you all. Until next time. John

Another great day on the Beach

Well it hasbeen another great day on the Beach. We walked for miles and picked up shells, soaked in the sun. I am wore out. We may go to the Christmas Paraide in Port St. Joe tonight, or we may not. I went fishing again, but no luck today. Not a nibble. But I did see something great. I saw six dolfins swim by as I fished. They were about 100 yards off the beach. Absolutly wonderful. Well until later so long. John

Just a short message

Well, Heather and Mark arrived today, about 5:00 this morning. They drove all night. It is a beautiful day today. There was no wind at all this morning, water was calm and the waves rhythmic. The sun is out and it is so warm. I know some of you will be watching the SEC championship game, but if it comes on during the day, I may have to miss it to enjoy this day on the beach. Talk to you later. John

Hey was warm today and I actually got some sun on my face and arms!!!!!!!!!!!yea!!!!!! found a huge sea turtle, but it was dead. They came with a dozer and drug it away. Ozzy would have had a time watching it work!!!!!!!

Found us a house for sale, they want $1,150,000 for it. Payments are $6500/month. Says it has a rental history of $80,000 a year.

Think we may actually play the lottery and see if we can swing it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!haha

Miss everyone, but sure am liking this place more and more, even if it is cold more days than it is warm right now.

Love you all
Mom

For those who might come our way, I thought I would send out some directions to this place.

Coming South down I-65 you will go to Montgomery, Al. and get off on Exit #168. Turn left at the bottom om the ramp and go East for a bit, maybe 5 or 6 miles. You will come to U.S. hwy. 231 South. It is just past the IHOP on the Right. You will turn Right and head South to Panama City. Once you get to Dotham, you will have to take the By-pass around Dotham. The turn is just past "Adams Motel" and just befor you get to a mall with Circuit City. You will turn Right. You will go a few males on the by-pass. As you pass a Shell Station you will come to an intersection. You will turn Right at a Chevron station and be on 231 South again to Pamama City. Just stay on 231 to Panama City. It is a divided four lane highway allo the way there. So has all the trip as well. Once in Panama City you will turn left onto Hwy. 98. I'm not sure how far it is to Port St. Joe, but it is 25 miles from the point the four lane ends just past the main entrence to Tyndell Air Force Bace. Once in Prt St. Joe you will continue on Hwy. 98 to the last traffic light. This light is where hwy. # 71 comes to 98 and there is a Hungry Howies on the right. Go 2.1 miles past the trafic light on kwy. 98. Turn Right onto hwy. 30A and go 6.6 mile to hwy. 30E. Turn Right onto hwy. 30E and go 5.6 miles to the blue Tee-shirt sign and Acklin Island Dr. Turn Left onto this drive. You are here. Hope these directions are clear.

Here is the house seen as you drive up to it. #187.
In this picture you can see the blue Tee Shirt sign where you turn into Acklins Island Dr. to our place.

Here is the little road to the house past the place you can rent MoPeds.
Here is a starfish and sand dollar that Judy found today.

Picture of Judy finding stuff.

Someone asked if there was much noise from the house construction work next to us. Some, but not much. They don't start work until 10:00 sometimes and quit by 4:00.

Hope you enjoy the pics. I tried fishing today. Nothing. Oh well. I talked to some people on the beach and hey said that people were caching Flounder. I will try a different bait and rig and see if I can find the Flounder. It has been a great day but it went way too fast. It is so relaxing but you just don't want the day to end. Tomorrow will be another adventure though. Looking foreword to that. Love you all, miss you too. John

I have tried to do more pics. This is of the beach today.

I was able to be on the beach for hours!!!!!!!!!! Warm enough with jeans and two shirts. Read for hours and watched the waves.

Hey guys, did I ever tell you about the time I went up on Mt Evens? Well there are no mountains here, but a wonderful beautiful beach. The storm from the past few days was magnificent. It is beautiful today. The sun is out and the wind has died down considerably, and the waves are crashing on the shore. We have been out on the beach this morning walking and looking for shells. We have found some awesome shell beds. We are finding lots and lots of conch shells about 4" to 6" long and many other different kinds of beautiful shells. We are keeping secret our shell beds so we can go back time after time and find more. I wish everyone was here to share in this, it is a remarkable place. The waves are still too ruff for fishing, but when it gets better, look out. I will have pictures of fish to post, yea right.

Hey guys, if you have any requests for shots or remarks, let us know. We have time and we have time and we have time. Love you all and miss you. John
